26-year-old TikToker Lohanny is on a desperate job search.
Her unusual approach has received a lot of praise and encouragement.
New York - Generation Z, those born between 1997 and 2010, is often labeled as lazy, unworldly and work-shy, especially by older people.
This stereotype is only reinforced by influencers who publicly complain about working 40-hour weeks.
But a young woman on TikTok has now proven that this generalization is often not true.
The video of 26-year-old Lohanny from New York, which she uploaded to TikTok in January 2024, has already been seen by 25 million people (as of February 20).
Lohanny, who herself belongs to Generation Z, is currently looking for a job in her hometown.
In view of the highly competitive labor market, she is taking unusual measures.
In the video you can see her going door to door with printed applications to show potential employers that she is interested.
In an interview with the digital edition of the US broadcaster FOX News, she admits that she doesn't feel particularly comfortable: "I've never felt so modest in my life."

She sees this as the “old-fashioned” method that she is now pinning her hopes on.
Although she's not sure this method will be successful, she knows many of her acquaintances use the same tactic.
She's clearly fed up with traditional job applications, which often left her feeling humiliated.
Despite her two university degrees and knowledge of three languages, she was repeatedly only offered minimum wage jobs, which is not very motivating.
“I’m a little embarrassed,” the TikToker admits through tears in the video.
Nevertheless, she is determined to find a job and is now continuing her search in person and on foot.
She receives a lot of praise and support under the video.
“That’s very brave, walking around with your resume.
You’ll find a job!” she encourages one user.
“I feel for you, you don’t have to be embarrassed,” confirms another.
Some users remember the times before the Internet and comment: “That's exactly how people looked for jobs before the Internet.” Many also give her career tips, including suggestions such as becoming a flight attendant, translator, teacher or journalist.
However, there are also approaches in Generation Z to focus on satisfaction-oriented work instead of focused career planning - based on the motto "job shopping instead of worrying about the future"
