The League did not withdraw the amendments on the third mandate of the mayors of large cities and governors, which will therefore be voted on in the Constitutional Affairs Commission, where Fi and FdI spoke out against it.
This is the outcome of the majority summit on the electoral decree, according to what Alberto Balboni, president of the Constitutional Affairs Commission and rapporteur, reported at the end.
Balboni said that the majority found "an agreement on all the amendments" except the two of the League on the third mandate of mayors and governors "on which there remains a legitimate difference of opinion of the League which maintains them".
"Without any drama - he continued - we have taken note that in the majority other parties have other positions, and in the Commission everyone will be free to vote as they wish".
"I would like to underline - the President of the Commission continued - that the amendment, despite some critical issues, was declared admissible because politics must assume its responsibilities and cannot hide behind technical aspects. Therefore we will vote without disagreements and arguments in Commission".
Split majority?
the reporters asked: "Split seems like a big word to me, there is a diversity of opinions."
The vote, Balboni further explained, could be postponed to next week: "we are ready but we have to wait for the opinions of the Budget Commission (on coverage ed.) which is not guaranteed to arrive this week".
