The United Nations World Food Program (WFP) has announced the suspension of deliveries of vital food aid to northern Gaza until conditions in the war-torn Palestinian enclave allow for safe distributions.
In a note, the WFP denounces the assault on its trucks by the population.
“The decision to suspend deliveries to the northern Gaza Strip was not taken lightly, as we know that it means that the situation there will worsen further and that more and more people will risk dying of hunger,” the Gaza food agency said. UN.
A delegation from the United States House of Representatives led by Adam Smith, Democrat head of the Armed Services Committee, was received today in Egypt by the governor of North Sinai, Abdel Fadil Shusha.
Arriving at Al-Arish airport, the delegation was welcomed by the United States ambassador to Cairo Hero Mostafa and together with the head of the Egyptian Red Crescent Khaled Zayed they examined the status of aid to the Gaza Strip.
The governor illustrated how this aid comes from Arab countries and the rest of the world from regional and international organizations through land, sea and air via Al-Arish International Airport.
The aid arriving in North Sinai - explained Shousha - is stored in a series of equipped logistics warehouses and subsequently transported to the Gaza Strip in coordination between the Egyptian Red Crescent, its Palestinian counterpart and the Organization for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA ), based on the most urgent needs of the civilian population of the Gaza Strip.
A logistics area - the governor recalled - is being set up in Egyptian Rafah, to receive aid and ease traffic and overcrowding in the city of Al Arish and on the roads leading to Rafah, and to facilitate the work of the Egyptian Red Crescent.
Israeli delegation in Cairo for negotiations on Gaza
A high-level Israeli delegation arrived in Cairo this morning, aboard a private plane from Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport, for talks on the situation in the Gaza Strip.
Airport sources reported this to ANSA.
"The Israeli delegation arrived on board a private Hawker Beechcraft 400XP plane and was received at Cairo airport by senior Egyptian intelligence officials and escorted by a convoy of cars to the meeting place, where the ceasefire in Gaza and an agreement for the exchange of hostages and prisoners between Israel and the Palestinian factions.
