Micaela Papiermeister

She is a photographer trained at the Maestro Quinquela Martín School, she is 23 years old and for a day she has been fighting for her life at the General Hospital of Playa del Carmen, in Mexico.

She is one of the Argentine passengers who were in the van that was traveling along the highway that connects Cancún and Tulum, in the state of Quintana Roo.

The vehicle

lost control, crossed lanes and hit a parked van

.

In that road incident, five Argentines and a Mexican, the driver of the van, died.

As

Clarín

was able to confirm with the families,

The group of Argentines

was returning from Belize after completing a stay renewal procedure in Mexico

, and in that context the accident occurred.

“I have been living in Mexico for three months.

She did some photography work and also already had a stable job as a receptionist,” one of Micaela's close relatives tells this newspaper.

And, after that, she provides information that coincides with the statement of one of the families of those who died in the accident: when everything happened, the group of Argentines

“was returning from extending their stay in Mexico

. ”

According to this direct relative of Papiermeister, the young woman knew some of the Argentines who were traveling with her when the tragedy occurred.

In fact, she adds that some of them had become friends.

After the accident, five Argentines died who were identified by the Quintana Roo Attorney General's Office: Vanesa Paola Silva Díaz, Ezequiel Hernán Sibella, Gerónimo Amengual, Maximiliano Nicolás Laviano and Nahuel López.

Added to them is the name of the Mexican Freddy Omar Quijano Carrillo, driver of the eTransfer company van.

As it turned out, the main hypothesis of the investigation is that the vehicle in which the Argentines were traveling lost control due to

the humidity of the asphalt, and that is why it crossed lanes

.

Such was the violence of the crash that firefighters had to work for around three hours to remove the victims from the car.

Micaela became a survivor of the accident, along with another Argentine who was traveling with the group: Yamil Lucas Figallo, 30 years old.

Local authorities had confirmed that the first suffered various fractures and was left in a "delicate" condition.

They only said about Figallo that he was stable.

Now, Micaela's family clarifies to this medium: “She is in intensive care, at this moment

she is stable

.

Yesterday she had surgery on her spleen, since she had a hemorrhage, and that is now resolved.

Now we have to wait for her to stabilize to see what procedure she follows.”

The situation for the families - both of the survivors and the deceased - is desperate.

In the case of Papiermeister, relatives are spreading through all social networks an express request for financial collaboration so that Lourdes, the young woman's mother, can travel to keep her company in Mexico.

“This is Mica, yesterday she survived the accident in Playa del Carmen, where five Argentines died and she is in therapy.

We urgently need the mother to travel and the collaboration of all of you

,” says the post that is shared by various media.

Below are the details of Micaela's father, Martín, so that people who can contribute some amount of money can do so.

The Argentine consulate was only in charge of the hospital issue

.

The parents do not want to talk since they are dealing with many bureaucratic issues,” adds the family member who speaks with

Clarín

.

Micaela shares her passion for photography on her Instagram, and has her own profile with work she has done.

Many of the last images shared of her were taken in Playa del Carmen, where she already had friends and acquaintances with whom she had spent her days for three months.

The struggle of the families of the deceased

“My brother had been living in Mexico since September, he went to try his luck there.

He and his girlfriend worked in Playa del Carmen, doing advertisements and also taking photos.

On Sunday at noon he sent us a photo saying that he had been able to renew his stay and when he was returning from doing that procedure in Belize what happened happened,” says Florencia López in dialogue with

Clarín

.

She is the sister of Nahuel, one of the five Argentines who died in the Quintana Roo road incident.

The 26-year-old young man, who just turned 26 in January, was another of the Argentines who traveled to carry out a stay extension procedure.

“On Sunday at noon he sent us a photo saying that he had been able to renew his stay

for 180 days

and when he was returning from doing that procedure what happened happened.

There was a lawyer who advised them to carry out the procedure: it is seen that she gathered people, they paid 10 thousand Mexican pesos to carry out that procedure," highlights Florencia, who adds that the lawyer - who did not travel with the victims - does not answer the messages. .

The woman says that they were not able to contact any family so far, and that the Foreign Ministry told them that they could not give them any information about it.

The problem for them is the repatriation of Nahuel's body, and they are also spreading a message on social networks so that whoever wants can collaborate with the mission of returning him to San Martín, province of Buenos Aires, where he is from.

“The bodies are there and no one is responsible for bringing them in. The Foreign Ministry told us that

there is no law that protects us

and helps us make things easier.

They gave us a list of funeral homes that gave us crazy prices:

some at $8,000, the cheapest at $3,200

,” the sister concludes.
