Dog Chester hasn't had much luck so far.
Socially neglected, he was given to the animal shelter - and had to wait there for a new family for almost half his life.
So far, fate has not been kind to the five-year-old German Shepherd mix Chester.
In May 2022 he was handed over to the Eifelhof Frankenau animal shelter near Koblenz.
His owners gave him up because he was overwhelmed, writes Lena from the animal shelter heroes in an emotional post on
.
During his entire time at the animal shelter, no one was seriously interested in him.
But Chester is “such a fine guy,” emphasizes the animal shelter employee in the appeal.
Another dog was given back to the animal shelter after just a few hours because of its size.

Dog Chester was not trained and socially neglected
German Shepherds build intense relationships with their humans - just like Chester would like to do.

“Unfortunately, he seems to have had little exposure to environmental stimuli in his home so far, because some everyday things unsettle him,” says Lena, describing the four-legged friend with the faithful puppy eyes.
The four-legged friend would initially react uncertainly to strangers and avoid contact.
Chester is not only a real eye-catcher, but also friendly and willing to learn, with the will-to-please typical of the breed.
According to the post, the handsome mixed-breed dog also loves exploring nature and his surroundings.
“Chester loves his people, likes to cuddle and chat like a German Shepherd,” reveals the Association Against Animal Abuse.

“If you rub your tummy, it will be musically accompanied by a deep, feel-good hum and you will get free kisses as a thank you.” Chester would also spend his free time playing with other animals and scaring the mice in the meadows around the animal shelter.
Chester, on the other hand, gets along brilliantly with his fellow animals at the animal shelter: The fact that his beloved roommate Sikari was allowed to move out in August 2023 gave him a lot of trouble at the time.

Chester the dog has finally found a loving home
But now, after almost two years, thanks to the tireless social media work of the Eifelhof Frankenau animal shelter, Chester has found a new home and his own people who love the German Shepherd mix and his floppy ears just as they are.
From now on, the well-deserved cuddles will never be neglected.
“His new family took four hours to get to know each other for the first time, which is something we really don’t see very often.
And it clicked immediately,” reports the Eifelhof Frankenau with emotion about the successful adoption.

“Chester was really in love and wasn’t really approachable to us anymore,” said the animal shelter.
The employees shed a few tears when they said goodbye, but they still wish him only the best with his new people: “Dear Chester, we wish you and your family the best life together and are overjoyed.
Take care, big boy,” were the emotional farewell words.
