The British government of Rishi Sunak has announced that it has imposed sanctions on six Russian officials, alleged to be responsible for the death in prison of Alexey Navlany, Vladimir Putin's opponent.

Sanctioned individuals will not be able to travel to the UK and will have any assets identified by the UK authorities frozen.
This is the commander of the Siberian penal colony where Navalny died as a prisoner, prison guard colonel Vadim Kalinin, and 5 of his deputies: lieutenant colonels Sergey Korzhov, Vasily Vydrin, Vladimir Pilipchik, Aleksandr Golyakov and Aleksandr Obraztsov.
The Foreign Office statement then reiterates that the Sunak government is calling for "a transparent investigation" into the death of the Kremlin opponent and strongly supports the Navalny family's appeal for "the immediate delivery" of the body.
