Welcome innovation?

Or has – as one user puts it – Paulaner “betrayed himself”?

Spezi fans are discussing a product that was previously spotted at an Edeka in Munich.

Munich - There is always a heated discussion among Cola Mix fans: the Paulaner-Spezi.

For many, it is the ultimate among the numerous brands.

Others think it is overestimated - in a blind test with a member of our editorial team, a competing product was found out of 29 samples that performed better in terms of taste.

But it is clear that the article is one of the top dogs: According to media reports, Paulaner-Spezi sales are around one million hectoliters per year.

Many people may not have noticed that the brewery is now expanding its product range.

In this respect, a posting in the Reddit group “SpeziVerreichenDE” is attracting a certain amount of attention.

Someone there is showing a new product that isn't actually on the market yet: Paulaner soda.

The purist is not very enthusiastic.

“We all know and love the best drink in the world, which comes from the Paulaner brewery, but now they have betrayed themselves and released this lemonade with this can, which will spoil one or two eyes on the shelf.” Another also reacts shocked and jokes: “Consumer protection is informed.”

It's no secret that the orange soda is coming onto the market and can even be read in a press release from mid-February on the Paulaner homepage.

“Paulaner-Spezi fans pay attention: The Orange is setting up its own business,” it says alongside a lot of PR enthusiasm.

“The fact that the Paulaner Limo belongs to the Paulaner Spezi family is unmistakable thanks to its iconic wave look.”

Paulaner lemonade spotted in Munich's Edeka - and what does it taste like?

The Paulaner limo is scheduled to come onto the market in March.

So why is the Reddit user already holding it in his hands?

Someone else wants to know that too.

“Where did you buy that?” they say.

The answer: “I saw it on a transport trolley in an Edeka in Munich, it looks brand new.” This is of course not certain, but the photo serves as proof.

In this respect, on February 20th he was able to taste a real rarity that doesn't actually exist yet.

No wonder that the Paulaner lemonade buyer is immediately asked for his opinion.

Which he also likes to make known.

“A bit sour for my taste, I'm very unsure about my rating,” she says.

Another, who was probably also able to try it, says: “It’s a solid orange soda.

It's like ahoy shower.

I think there are better alternatives.” These are still individual opinions – but it will be exciting to see whether Paulaner conquers the orange soda throne.

Another Spezi fan once got mad at Kaufland.
