The Old Continent area index, the Stoxx 600, lost a quarter of a point with sales focusing on pharmaceuticals and financials.
Milan continues to stand out in Europe with the Ftse Mib rising by 0.85% to 31,949 points.
MPS stands out (+4.9%) with DeutscheBank raising its target price to 5.1 euros and confirming its 'buy' recommendation.
Iveco follows (+4.6%) with the 'buy' in this case of Bofa.
Among other banks, Mediobanca (+4.05%) was rewarded by UBS, and Bper (+3.4%) did well.
On the opposite front, Snam (-0.8%), Nexi (-0.16%).
Tim is also weak (-0.4%).
Among the other lists, Paris is weak (-0.06%) where Edenred leaves 14% with the top management in Italy under investigation for an alleged scam while the company is ready to clarify.
Frankfurt gains a marginal 0.18%.
London, however, leaves 0.9% on the ground with HSBC losing over 8% which, despite its sharply rising profits, missed analysts' average estimates due to high devaluation costs.
The spread between BTPs and Bunds remains in the area of 148 points while the yield on the Italian ten-year bond rises by almost 4 basis points and is close to 3.89%.
On the commodity front, oil is little moved (WTI $77 and Brent $82 a barrel).
Gas still travels at 24 euros per megawatt hour and loses 0.7%.
For exchange rates, the euro is stable, trading at 1.0811 dollars.
