If you fancy traditional home cooking but don't have the time to cook, this pan dish with creamy chicken fricassee and gnocchi is perfect for you.
Traditionally, chicken fricassee is served with rice or potatoes and is usually a logical byproduct (or the secret star?) of a classic chicken broth.
At Simply Tasty, we love the delicious dishes we grew up with, but give them a modern twist every now and then.
So we ended up with a creamy chicken fricassee with toast bread in a casserole and fish fingers with tartar sauce wrapped up as a burrito.
As already mentioned at the beginning, grandma served potatoes with chicken fricassee.
Since the Italian side dish gnocchi actually only consists of potatoes, it should also go well with chicken fricassee, right?
The chicken fricassee gnocchi pan is so quick and easy to prepare:
These ingredients are needed for the creamy pan with gnocchi and chicken:
50g butter
400 g chicken breast fillet, diced
70 g onions, diced
100 g mushrooms, quartered
200g white asparagus, peeled and cut into pieces
150 g carrots, peeled and cut into sticks
1 garlic clove, finely chopped
1 tsp salt
0.5 tsp pepper
1 pinch of nutmeg
10 g wheat flour
300 ml milk
200 ml chicken broth
100 ml white wine
500g gnocchi
100g peas
Parsley, if desired
All you need to prepare it is a large pan:
Heat butter in a large pan and brown the chicken all over.
Add onions, mushrooms, asparagus and carrots and fry too.
Season with garlic, salt, pepper and nutmeg.
Sprinkle wheat flour over it and pour in milk, chicken stock and white wine.
Bring to the boil, stirring well so that no lumps of flour form.
Add the gnocchi and peas and simmer over low heat until the gnocchi is al dente and the sauce is creamy.
Sprinkle with parsley if desired and serve.
