A smartphone manufacturer is going one step further and will fully rely on the technology in the future.

A Chinese smartphone manufacturer has already answered this question and announced a change of course.
The focus is now on AI instead of Android smartphones.
Smartphone manufacturer stops production – with consequences for customers
The Meizu company announced on Sunday, February 18, 2024 via the Chinese microblogging service “Weibo” that it was ceasing its smartphone production.
The decision is justified by a strategic change.

portal reports that in the future the focus will be on the production of “devices of tomorrow” powered by AI.
The former smartphone manufacturer is pursuing an “all in AI” approach.
The rise and fall of Meizu
It was only in 2008 that Meizu specialized in the production of mobile phones.
The company was previously known for its MP3 and later MP4 players.
Over the years, Meizu rose to become the eleventh largest smartphone manufacturer in the world.
In 2015, the company sold more than 20 million devices.
Four years later, Meizu ran into financial difficulties and had to introduce austerity measures.
The workforce was reduced, sales outlets were closed and international expansion was largely stopped.
Between the fourth quarter of 2017 and the first quarter of 2020, the market share on the Chinese market fell from four percent to less than one percent.
As a result, the development of future models such as the Meizu 21 Pro, Meizu 22 and Meizu 23 will be stopped.
This marks the end of an era of more than 15 years in the smartphone market for the company.
While Meizu has assured that it will continue support for its products in the Chinese market, international customers are left with many unanswered questions.
Information about support and service outside of China is still pending.
AI operating system and new hardware – that’s what the smartphone manufacturer is planning
In recent years, Meizu has faced tough competition from big brands like Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo.
Despite various efforts, the US market remained largely inaccessible to the company.
To change that, an AI operating system is being planned, which is scheduled to appear in 2024.
In addition, Meizu plans to launch new hardware products.
Among other things, we are talking about “AR glasses”.
