At least 24 people have died following the collapse of a clandestine gold mine in the jungle of southern Venezuela.
This is still a provisional toll while the authorities continue the search for any survivors or missing persons.
The accident occurred on Tuesday in the "Bullaloca" mine, in the state of Bolivar, seven hours by boat from the city of Paragua.

According to authorities' estimates, around 200 people were working in the clandestine mine at the time of the accident.
Some managed to escape while others were overwhelmed.
