Although those close to the crazy Scientologist told of plenty of romantic gestures and even a meeting with Kairova's children, the two decided to separate.
"Tom was the one who ended the relationship, but he wants them to remain friends," a chatty source told the Daily Mail.
"They live on the same street in London, so a messy breakup could have made for very awkward encounters in the future."
Cruz and Kairova met for the first time last December through mutual friends, who brought the model to a tea party at the Hollywood star's house.
