Be careful on the roads, all of France is on vacation!
This weekend of February 24 and 25 marks the time when all students are on winter school vacation.
End of celebrations for zone C, extension of one week for zone A and start of hostilities for zone B, enough to cause a rush on the roads to vacation spots or to return home after vacation.
“This weekend also marks the start of the Carnival holidays in Belgium and the end for the North and Central areas of the Netherlands.
(…) Particularly intense traffic difficulties are expected on the routes serving winter sports resorts in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region,” notes Bison futé in its forecasts.
Watch out for Friday in the Grand Est
For once, it is in the Lorraine region that we will have to be most vigilant this Friday, and not in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.
The Grand Est and the Burgundy-Franche-Comté region are classified orange in the direction of departures.
As for returns, everything is green across the country.

On the other hand, Saturday will concentrate more difficulties: it is classified red in the direction of departures in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and orange for the rest of the country.
In terms of returns, it is Île-de-France which is on orange alert.
However, no disturbances to report for Sunday throughout the country, whatever the direction of traffic.
Roads to avoid according to Bison futé
To avoid traffic jams as much as possible, the road safety organization has drawn up a list of the most congested roads for this weekend and therefore the sectors to bypass.
For the day of Friday in the direction of departures, it is therefore the Grand Est which will bring together the main blocking points.
So avoid the A31 between France and Luxembourg from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. and the A4 between Reims and Metz from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
But it is on Saturday that the list grows, with no less than four axes which will run the risk of being saturated due to the influx of motorists in the direction of departures, mainly in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.
To be avoided in the region: the A40 between Mâcon and Annemasse from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., the A43 between Lyon and Chambéry from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the N85 between Grenoble and Gap from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Be vigilant also in New Aquitaine on the A10 between Saintes and Bordeaux in the morning, between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., and favor a crossing or departure from Île-de-France before 8 a.m.
Finally, if you take the road on Saturday in the return direction, return to or cross Île-de-France before 2 p.m. to avoid the most concentrated traffic jams.
