“Will we always dance together, even after death?”
Eddy de Pretto unveiled on Wednesday the clip for
Urgence 911
, a title and video inspired by the funeral of teacher Agnès Lassalle.
Torn shirt, hanging in the air, clinging to a car on the edge of the abyss... Eddy de Pretto rediscovers the spirit of the images that moved France in February 2023.
Directed by Arthur King, the clip intends to
“poetize a painful situation”
, inspired by the funeral of Agnès Lassalle, a teacher murdered by one of her students.
We find the dance that Stéphane Voirin led alone, in front of his wife's coffin to the rhythm of
LOVE
, the title by Nate King Cole.
“
When I come across the video of a man starting a last dance, alone, during his wife's funeral, I am directly moved and an existential question arises: will we always dance together, even after death?
, he explained in a press release.
This unanswered question was a real driving force for the writing of this piece.”
Love is the central theme of his latest album,
Crash Coeur
, released last November.
For the first time, Eddy de Pretto puts aside his songs about society and its setbacks to tackle a more personal subject.
The album nonetheless remains
“muscular”
, he specifies.
“
It’s not saying anything, in 2023, to talk about love as a homosexual man in France.”
The first single from the album,
R + V
, unveiled in August 2023, already said a lot.
The singer paid tribute to the men in his life, thanking his guides, Rimbaud, Verlaine, Elton John and Freddy Mercury for having accepted their homosexuality before him.
Eddy de Pretto will be touring throughout France with his
Crash Cœur Tour
which will take place on Friday in Reims and will end in Paris on December 6.
