The Tokyo Stock Exchange has recovered completely since the bursting of the Japanese speculative bubble in the early 1990s: the main index, the Nikkei, has surpassed its historical high, dating back to the end of 1989.
The Nikkei rose above 39,000 points, obliterating during the session its previous historical high, reached on December 29, 1989 (38,957.44 points).
His all-time closing record (38,915.87 points on the same day) could therefore be beaten.
