A sorely missed cat becomes the best gift for a family.

Because after three years he finally finds his way home to his true owners.

Many people surprise their loved ones on Valentine's Day.

They give away flowers, chocolate or other beautiful things that put a smile on their significant other's face.

A whole family even had reason to be happy that day.

Their biggest Valentine's Day gift was given to them by their cat, who disappeared three years ago and found his people again on February 14th.

Kater disappeared without a trace for three years

It was a wonderful day for the family and their missing cat.

The Bergheim animal shelter reports on Facebook about the magical story with a happy ending.

But how did it happen that the cat was missing for so long and that tears of joy flowed on Valentine's Day?

It all started with a classic: the cat didn't come back home after a trip.

The owners' efforts to find their beloved four-legged friend were unsuccessful.

More and more the hope of ever seeing the cat with the black jacket again disappeared.

They reported him missing to the animal protection organization Tasso, the central pet registry for the Federal Republic of Germany.

But for more than three years there was no clue as to where the cat might be - until recently.

, it turned out that "Ozzy" had been in other people's apartments for all these years, which was only 900 meters away from his real home.

However, the supposed owners had to vacate their apartment, which is why the animal shelter took “Ozzy” and three other cats into board.

However, because the alleged owners of the cats never contacted us again, the animal shelter employees decided to put the four-legged friends up for adoption.

They started an attempt at mediation on the show “Animals Looking for a Home” and registered the cats with Tasso.

It was only then that the fate of the cat, who was not one of the suspected owners but was sorely missed by other people, was revealed.

The story of Paulchen the cat shows how important it is to chip animals.

Reunion with tears of joy

After this surprising discovery, the animal shelter employees contacted the real owners.

The family immediately set off, and a heartwarming reunion followed on the day of love, Valentine's Day.

The cat showed his joy by repeatedly placing his paws on “his people”.

Tears flowed from all the two-legged friends.

The Bergheim animal shelter explains that employees at the animal shelter are not authorized to make changes to Tasso if animals are only there for boarding.

This makes it clear why the fate of “Ozzy” only came to light with a delay.
