A wave of bad weather is coming, at least 5 days of rain, strong winds and over 1 meter of snow in the Alps.
A deep Atlantic trough will reach North Africa by the weekend.
Everything changes, a load of rain, snow and wind arrives from Iceland.
Andrea Garbinato, editorial manager of the website www.iLMeteo.it, confirms that from the next few hours the pressure will begin to drop and the weather will change.
It will start to rain more intensely in the North-West regions, but the sky will also become overcast in the Centre.
The snow will initially fall above 1500 metres, especially between Piedmont, Valle d'Aosta and western Lombardy.
From late afternoon we will enter the peak of the Atlantic disturbance, which will bring an intensification of the phenomena:
moderate snowfall is expected in the north-western Alps, scattered rain in the Po Valley with the mixing of the air in the lower layers.
The rains will definitively break down the smog,
at least as regards the latest acute episode of fine dust in the North.
On Friday 23 February a cyclone will form in the Ligurian Gulf and the weather will worsen further with three factors: lots of snow in the central-eastern Alps, strong winds and rain in almost all of the Centre-North.
Only in the South will we still have some sunny spells but, gradually, the weather will also gray in the South.
The weekend will be winter-like, perhaps more autumnal than winter as the temperatures will not drop to particularly cold values: we will fall within the averages of the period with a drop of 10 degrees
, but both the highs and lows will still be almost normal for February.
During the new week the disturbance, which started from Reykjavik in Iceland, will descend towards Tunisia and then Libya: in this way we will still have bad weather in the North until Monday then, from Tuesday the intense rains could persist in the South until the beginning of March .
Good news against the extreme drought that is affecting Sicily;
even in Sardinia some rainfall will finally arrive on a thirsty land.

Friday 23rd

In the north: widespread rainfall, especially in Liguria and the North-East;
lots of snow in the central-eastern Alps.
In the centre: widespread rainfall especially on the Tyrrhenian side.
In the south: it gets worse in Campania.
Saturday 24th
.
In the north: worse in the afternoon with scattered rain.
In the center: afternoon showers over Tuscany and Sardinia.
In the south: widespread bad weather with rain and showers.
Trend: Atlantic disturbance extended to Italy; Monday and Tuesday rain almost everywhere.
