Nele Hertling is awarded the Berlin Theater Prize.

The culture, theater and dance scene has a lot to thank Nele Hertling for, says Berlin's mayor.
The jury honored the theater director with a special prize.
Berlin - The dramaturge and director Nele Hertling is awarded the Berlin Theater Prize.
Hertling has been transforming Berlin for 60 years, the jury said on Thursday.
She will receive the 20,000 euro prize at the Berlin Theatertreffen in May for her commitment to the Berlin art scene, which she has shaped, among other things, as vice president of the Academy of Arts, as founder and director of the Kreuzberg Hebbel Theater and as head of the DAAD artists' program .
“We bow to a great artist,” said Berlin’s Governing Mayor Kai Wegner (CDU), according to the statement.
He is the chairman of the Prussian Sea Trade Foundation, which awards the prize.
“Europe was just as important to her as strengthening our community and democracy, the fight for freedom and against intolerance.” The culture, theater and dance scene has a lot to thank Nele Hertling for.
The theater prize has been awarded since 1988.
So far, the actresses Sandra Hülser, Corinna Harfouch and Sophie Rois have received it.
The Prussian Sea Dealing Foundation was founded in 1983 by the State of Berlin from the remaining assets of the Prussian State Bank.
