'We will continue to invest in Italy, with the opportunity to help people grow'.

Marco Hannappel, CEO of Philip Morris Italia, said this at the Forum in Masseria 2024 organized by Bruno Vespa at the Terme di Saturnia, taking stock of the activity of Philip Morris which has been present in Italy for 60 years.

'We have decided to invest in this country by focusing on the excellence of the territory, because here there is the possibility of innovating and building integrated innovative supply chains - he said - Starting from 2016 we have completely changed our strategy, deciding to exit the cigarettes and I hope that Italy can be among the first countries in the world to achieve this objective'.

'In 2016, in Crespellano, in the province of Bologna - added Hannappel - we inaugurated the largest factory in the last twenty-five years dedicated to innovative combustion-free products, the result of over one and a half billion in investments.

Where previously there was a field of scrub we built a Center which today exports to 50 countries around the world and accounts for half a point of the GDP.

With a further 600 million investment, we have also inaugurated a Center for Industrial Excellence, a factory of factories that helps reconvert other Philip Morris factories around the world with Italian machinery.'

'Our integrated supply chain employs 41 thousand people also through multi-year agreements that we have signed for more than 10 years with the Ministry of Agriculture and Coldiretti, each of which provides for an investment of 500 million euros.

To close the circle of our supply chain, we recently announced Rec, a very important project from a technical point of view for the recycling of our devices without combustion, with an average recovery of over 80% of the raw materials.

We cannot grow without making people grow - concluded the CEO of Philip Morris Italy - which is why last year we inaugurated the Philip Morris Institute for Manufacturing Competences, a center for the development of Industry 4.0 skills and we did so with partners from the academic and training world.
