"Today at least 18 countries in the world are testing the so-called short week. President Conte's proposal, of which I am a co-signatory, provides, on an experimental basis, the possibility of reducing the working hours per week by up to 32 for the same salary. The stipulation of specific contracts for reduction of working hours and equal pay is entrusted to the comparatively most representative editorial trade union organizations at a national level, as well as to their territorial or company branches. Furthermore, it guarantees employers who start the experiment an exemption from contributions valid both in the case of contract transformations both existing and new hires".
The group leader of the 5 Star Movement in the Labor commission of the Chamber, Valentina Barzotti, said this in an interview with Tag24.
"As in the case of our proposal on the minimum wage, therefore, we act within the context of negotiation, even at second level. The PDL also provides for a mechanism that allows the diffusion of reduced forms of working hours in the absence of a collective agreement stipulated by the organizations comparatively more representative: in this case, at least 20% of the company's employees or the employer can propose a hypothesis of agreement, which will then be subjected to an internal referendum. The Conte pdl is on the table and anyone who wants to sit down with us to discuss it will be welcome ", he concludes.
