"We are witnessing an intolerable series of manifestations of violence: insults, vulgarity of language, interventions devoid of content but full of verbal aggression, even effigies burned or vilified, several times of the Prime Minister herself, to whom full solidarity must be expressed".
The President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella stated this while speaking to a group of students at the Quirinale.
"The political confrontation, the contrast of ideas and proposals, the competition, even electoral, are mortified and distorted", he added.
Schlein: the burnt mannequin is unacceptable, good Mattarella
"This political violence must be condemned and is not acceptable. The opponents fight with ideas and proposals in a healthy democratic dialectic. President Mattarella is right in saying that acts of violence and verbal or physical aggression must not find any space in democracy because they overwhelm the dignity of politics and represent its negation."
Thus secretary Schlein intercepted by ANSA on the mannequin with the likeness of Giorgia Meloni burned yesterday in a demonstration in Rome.
