Piazza Affari turns the mid-day mark without any particular jolts, remaining the best stock market in Europe by a few fractions: in Milan the Ftse Mib index rises by 0.8%, with Paris up by 0.6%, while London and Frankfurt are flat.
Among the main stocks on the Milanese list, the banks' race continues following the scenario outlined by Il Foglio on a consolidation of the sector which would involve a large operation involving Unicredit, Mediobanca and Generali.
Thus the Piazzetta Cuccia group rose by 5%, Generali and BancaGenerali by 3.8%, Banco Bpm by 3.5%.
Cautious Unicredit increases by about one percentage point.
Tim flat, down 0.8% Erg and 0.9% Snam.
In the energy sector, gas reduces losses and now drops 1.8% to 22.7 euros, correcting the lows since August 2021, and oil remains weak, losing 1.6% to 77.2 dollars a barrel.
Government bonds were calm, with the spread between BTPs and Bunds falling slightly to 146 basis points.
