Deutsche Telekom has revised its streaming offering.
This makes it clearer and more convenient for customers.
The new offer has already been activated for new customers.
Bonn – Deutsche Telekom is changing its live TV offering Magenta TV.
The new version will be called MagentaTV 2.0 and will work on an app basis, the company says.
The change should make operation easier for users.
However, not all customers have access to the new functions at the same time.
Telekom change affects existing customers: previous IPTV receivers can no longer be used
Magenta TV 2.0 offers “a diverse range of content that is easy to use and based on state-of-the-art technology,” explains Telekom’s TV boss.
The difference to the previous offer (Magenta TV) is that users are now shown a personalized homepage.
According to Telekom, this makes the offer clearer and more user-friendly.
The service can also be operated using the remote control with integrated voice control.
Telekom recently excluded some providers from its Magenta TV offering.
However, there is a change for existing Telekom customers.
In contrast to new customers who have been able to use the new offer since February 15th, existing customers received mail announcing a start from February 20th, reports
Digital Fernsehen
.
However, there are some indications that initially only customers without a telephone or internet connection will be affected.
According to the report, there is not yet a timetable for the changeover with internet connection.
Regardless of the devices used, recordings, channel lists and watch lists unfortunately cannot be transferred when switching to the new MagentaTV
Note from Deutsche Telekom, “Which devices can be used with MagentaTV 2.0?”
The reason for this could be the media receiver that many MagentaTV customers have been using to stream films and series.
IPTV receivers should therefore no longer work with the new platform, according to
netzwelt.de
.
The Deutsche Telekom website states that some devices are no longer compatible.
“Regardless of the devices used, recordings, channel lists and watch lists unfortunately cannot be transferred when switching to the new MagentaTV,” says Telekom.
Compatible devices with MagentaTV 2.0 are:
MagentaTV One and MagentaTV Stick
With the MagentaTV app on smartphone or tablet from iOS 15 and from Android™ 7.0, Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Safari and Samsung Internet on web2.magentatv.de

Telekom now offers MagentaTV 2.0: the service also works on the PC
For example, anyone who uses a Fire TV with an OS older than 6.0 or a media receiver 401, 201, 400, 200, 601 Sat and MagentaTV Box cannot use the new offer.
MagentaTV 2.0 cannot be used with a Chromecast from generations 1-3 either.

Anyone who streams on their computer can also use the offer.
This is what MagentaTV 2.0 offers users
MagentaTV bundles classic television and streaming services on one platform.
Using the MagentaTV One remote control, users can search for content using voice commands.
The offer also includes 100 hours of cloud storage for recording.
In addition, MagentaTV 2.0 impresses with improved picture and sound quality with UHD 4K and Dolby 5.1.

If you are an existing customer with a Telekom Internet connection and would like to know whether MagentaTV 2.0 is already available, you can quickly find out on the provider's website.
All you have to do is log in with your account details.
All other interested parties who do not yet have an Internet connection or who would like to switch to Telekom from another provider can also check whether and which offer the telecommunications company has available to them by entering their address details.
By the way, anyone who still watches television via their cable connection should keep an eye on the date June 30, 2024.
Tenants can then decide for themselves whether they want to switch completely to streaming services such as Magenta, Netflix, Disney, Amazon Prime and Co.
From then on, landlords will no longer be able to pass on the costs of the connection via their utility bill.
