Unmissable at the start of the year, she is the daughter and muse of the legendary letter writer Madame de Sévigné in the film of the same name by Isabelle Brocard, with Karin Viard. The actress took part in our Autopromo interview.

In March, on Canal+, she will be a polemicist in

La Fièvre

, a series by Ziad Doueiri (

Black Baron

) on the fabrication of lies and crisis communication, before going to flex her muscles in a very free remake of The

Wages of Fear,

expected on Netflix on March 29.

– My current mood?

Ana Girardot.

-

Hyperactive.

Those close to me suggested I slow down.

By wanting to do everything, I tend to overload my schedule and become exhausted.

It's related to my anxiety.

I also have to learn to take the time, so that in the end this overflowing energy becomes a force.

Why do you have to go see

Madame de Sévigné

?

It is a sublime portrait of women which brings real reflection on mother-daughter relationships.

The words are sustained, but the substance is ultimately very close to what we still experience today.

Filial love stories, especially passionate ones, span the ages just like any other!

How is my character like me?

She tries to free herself from her mother's gaze.

Every child will do this at some point.

Madame de Grignan's love for her husband is loyal and praiseworthy.

She supports him in everything.

I see myself there too.

A filming secret?

A costume can give you concrete information about your character and their position in society.

Sometimes better than documentary research.

For

The Count of Monte Cristo

*, a miniseries that I shot in the middle of summer between Turin, Rome, Paris and Malta, I had to wear a corset all day in the stifling heat.

We can't eat, the brain is less well irrigated, we get out of breath easily!

I measured the extent to which women of the time were hampered by this garment.

I must learn to turn my boundless energy into strength.

Ana Girardot

Do I lie a lot in interviews?

I can deal with the truth.

I may have sometimes claimed to do more sport than in reality, for example... But most often I try to be sincere: as I like reading interviews with other actors and actresses, discovering their vision of the profession , I try to return the favor.

The question I dread?

The one that relates to my parents (

the actors Hippolyte Girardot and Isabel Otero, Editor's note

), because I try to detach myself from them.

And I never answer a question about my son.

Talking about me on promotion, a chore?

At the time, it comes quite easily to me, but afterward, when reading, I always find it a little strange.

Fortunately, I'm starting to know a little about the exercise and to sort things out.

I fear the question relating to my parents (

the actors Hippolyte Girardot and Isabel Otero, Editor's note

), because I try to detach myself from it

Ana Girardot

A misunderstanding about me?

People often ask me if I am Annie Girardot's granddaughter.

It's almost harder not to be his granddaughter than to be Hippolyte's daughter: it's an expectation that I don't dare disappoint, and sometimes I lie...

When am I proud of myself?

When I see my son, I am proud of myself through him.

And when I reach the end of the projects that are close to my heart with directors I wanted to work with, characters I wanted to tackle...

What do I like people to say about me?

“Worker” appeals to me.

And that I am a good friend, attentive, not self-centered.

As soon as I have a drop in motivation, I remember my dreams as a girl, at 20 years old

Ana Girardot

Still the sacred fire?

Yes.

And as soon as I have a drop in motivation or confidence, I remember my childhood dreams, my 20s.

They are the most precious, those who must guide us.

What am I going to do after this interview?

Answer another interview, repeat the César evening with Jean-Pascal Zadi, and go to a meeting on the writing of my first feature film.

A personal project that is really close to my heart.

It’s about women and cinema…

*

 The Count of Monte Cristo,

by Bille August, with Sam Claflin, Blake Ritson… In December on France 2.
