The Golden Bear for best film of the 74th edition of the Berlin Film Festival went to Dahomey by director Mati Diop.
The announcement was made during a gala evening in the German capital streamed on the Berlinale website.
It is a documentary in which the French director talks about colonization through the history of the works of art returned to Benin in 2021 after being stolen by the French colonizers in 1892, when the African country was called the Kingdom of Dahomey.
