Jasmine Paolini won the Dubai tournament, obtaining her first success in a WTA 1000, beating the Russian Anna Kalynskaya with a score of 5-6, 7-5, 7-5.
The Italian will also rise to No. 14 in the world rankings on Monday.
"This victory is special, I am very happy - said Jasmine Paolini after winning the Dubai tournament - It was a very tough match, Kalinskaya played at an incredible level all week. I did well to recover and get back into the match, I fought at every point and I'm proud of what I did. I was happy to have won every match, but especially the first match, when I was seven breaks down (against the Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, ed.). Winning the title afterwards to have faced a situation like this is incredible."
Yesterday Paolini had beaten the Romanian Sorana Cirstea 6-2 7-6 (6), after almost two hours of play, becoming the ninth Italian ever to enter the top 20 after Schiavone (n.4), Errani (n.5 ), Pennetta (n.6), Vinci (n.7), Farina (n.11), Reggi (n.13), Cecchini (n.15) and Trevisan (n.18).
In the final today the match against Anna Kalinskaya: the Russian, n.40 WTA, who arrived from the qualifiers, had yesterday eliminated the queen of world tennis, the Polish Iga Swiatek, with a double 6-4, fresh from the third title in a row won in Doha .
