The messaging service WhatsApp wants to protect user privacy with the latest update.
The screenshots on the app will be restricted.
Kassel – Many people have already sent a WhatsApp screenshot to their best friends.
If you need a second opinion as to whether your crush might be flirting back, you can easily take a screenshot with your cell phone and forward the chat.
But be careful: Not all WhatsApp functions allow a screenshot.
Now another exception is introduced that does not allow saving or forwarding.

Five years ago, Whatsapp stopped the function of downloading profile pictures.
This change was introduced for privacy reasons.
Since then, the images have still been able to be captured using a screenshot.
If a user tries to take a screenshot, an error message appears in the new version: “Screenshot cannot be taken due to app restrictions.”

writes that the update is intended to protect user privacy.
Profile pictures are often personal photos that should only be made available to contacts.
The new function could prevent unauthorized use or distribution of these photos.
This means that third-party images cannot be used for purposes such as identity fraud or harassment.
But screenshots can also be useful.
A pensioner used it to expose a nasty scam.
The new version will be made available to other users in the coming weeks.
Saving one-time images and videos is also prohibited.
Whatsapp has no longer allowed screenshots of these since 2022.
Unlike Snapchat, the attempt is not visible to the other person.
