For some, parking is a discipline in itself.

A post on Reddit shows how brazen and reckless you can be.

Munich – The Internet is full of bizarre things and there is even a forum for many of them.

The best-known platform for discussions of all kinds, alongside Instagram, TikTok and X, is probably Reddit.

For example, a post on Reddit about a Lidl product from Bavaria caused disgust and despair among the community.

In addition to disgusting discussions, you can also find all sorts of funny and useful things: like this user who asks burglars for tips on how to protect his apartment.

Now a Reddit post in a dedicated category for illegal parking is causing a lack of understanding and speculation.

Because the street where the parking violators struck is no longer passable.

Who is parking wrong here?

Or better asked: Who is parking in the wrong place here?

Users of the online portal Reddit are puzzling about this.

A picture of two cars parked in parallel, a Mercedes and an Opel, was uploaded to the r/wrong-parker section.

At first glance, nothing unusual.

But upon closer inspection, you notice that both cars are parked on the side of the road.

In such a way that anything wider than the neighbor's child on his tricycle probably wouldn't make it through.

The image is followed by a short description of the user's situation: “There are usually cars on the left, usually in the direction of travel.

It's unclear who parked their vehicle here first, but they both often park there and are familiar with the convention." If you haven't had a reason to shake your head yet, you should take a look at the second picture.

You can see a satellite image from Google Maps, which is supposed to show the street in question.

Clearly visible: It is a street that ends in a dead end.

Reddit user outraged – “no fire truck can get through there anymore”

The community definitely agrees on two points.

First: the Mercedes is facing the opposite direction of travel.

So this vehicle is the first to be towed.

Second, regardless of who parked there first, the situation is “problematic,” to say the least.

One user comments on the dilemma accordingly: “The Benz, because it is also facing the wrong direction.

At least the Corsa is not in the no-parking zone, even if it makes no sense since the Benz makes it impossible to drive through (assuming it was there first).”

Others no longer even address the question of who actually parked illegally, but comment in disbelief: “When something like that happens, I call the police straight away... no fire truck can get through anymore (...) no - I'll make short work of it.” And it actually works there are no more fire engines getting through, not to mention other cars that are behind the two unscrupulous parkers in the dead end.

This is what the StVO says – parking in the opposite direction of travel

According to the Road Traffic Regulations (StVO) § 12 Stopping and Parking, the situation here is clear: “For parking, the right shoulder must be used, which also includes parking lanes along the road, if it is sufficiently paved for this purpose, otherwise it is on the To approach the right side of the road." With the right lane, parking is only permitted in the direction of travel.

My news

  • 21-year-old citizen's benefit recipient quits job after one day - because the workload is too high

This parking sin is usually punished with a ticket.

However, cars can also be towed if they endanger road safety.

Which is probably the case in the post on reddit.de, as the dead end behind it would be inaccessible to rescue workers.

Another user on Reddit also posted a picture of an awkward parking situation.

But not necessarily to denounce a parking offender, but to ask the community for help.

He certainly didn't expect a very special answer there.
