"Tomorrow at the Agrifish Council I will present a document, entitled 'Agriculture, the CAP and European food sovereignty. Reconnecting food and society' and focuses on strengthening the allocation of resources of the EU agricultural policy because the current budget has proven not to be sufficient to guarantee the necessary balance between economic and environmental sustainability. We are focusing on supporting and protecting farmers' income, strengthening European food sovereignty and the EU directive against unfair practices".
This is what the Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry, Francesco Lollobrigida, stated in an interview with the Province of Cremona.
"With a view to strengthening farmers' income, the issue of international agreements is also decisive, which must be based on reciprocity criteria to import only products subject to the same standards and the same rules that our farmers and fishermen are obliged to respect. The document is also important in light of the Council of Heads of State and Government in March for which Giorgia Meloni requested and obtained that there should also be a discussion on agricultural issues on the agenda. Italy is acting as a protagonist. The agricultural and production sector is ours main business card".
