There is a young generation that is now fighting for us, and we need to fight for them and build the new Israel in all respects, because none of them deserve it. How will this happen? Shalom Sheetrit in a poignant opinion column

The October 7th massacre is one of the most difficult events in the history of the State of Israel.

According to all estimates, the just war for the security of the State of Israel may continue for a long time.

Alongside the southern arena, a daily campaign is underway in the north as well, which may develop with greater intensity in order to restore security to the residents of the north who were reluctantly evacuated from their homes.

In light of the complex security reality.

The State of Israel on its entirety is obligated to create a new contract and builds trust between itself and the citizens, in particular with regard to the personal security of all of us.

The economy of the State of Israel is in a major crisis even before the war began, the global crisis that allegedly forced the governor of the Bank of Israel to raise the interest rate by hundreds of percent compared to what was customary in previous years.

Then came the war, which swept away all the cards, and radicalized the economic situation in the State of Israel.

As of today, a large part of the country, which is the productive part that should contribute to the country's economy, is busy with the country's security.

Even before the war, it was clear that the increase in interest rates would create a very big problem for the state's revenues.

The large shortfall of over NIS 100 billion in 2023. That was shown in all the financial reports, of all the large companies in the economy and in the real estate industry in particular.

Rebuild, in every sense/ShutterStock

Until this moment, the war, which includes security expenses, expenses on aid grants, civilian expenses for the reconstruction of the Otaf and treatment of the residents of the Otaf.

puts the State of Israel in an excess expenditure of about NIS 200 billion.

Therefore, it is clear beyond any doubt that there must be a new agenda for the State of Israel, and a different distribution of the budget pie in the country.

In recent years, the defense budget has dropped to third or fourth place among the ministries' budgets.

The Ministries of Education and National Insurance were the largest, and loan repayment that the state pays back on past loans.

And this is where the story of the real estate industry in the State of Israel enters.

Some say and expect that the state will solve all the problems, and I believe that we need a different leadership, a leadership that understands the state the state is in. It will have unity and professionalism, that will run the state as a Zionist state. And the Zionist code should be the leading code. in its decisions and to develop the continued construction and development of the country.

One of the foundations for proper economic management is to let market forces work without government intervention. But today

the state needs to take at least three steps, and in no particular order of importance, to remove the bureaucracy and barriers to bringing in foreign workers in the construction industry .

3 steps the state should take today

First of all, for four months we have been operating at a production output of 10% of what is needed in the industry, and any shortage of foreign workers in the construction industry affects the employment of two or three other Israeli workers.

When there is a lack of skeleton workers, then there is no employment for all other professionals, other contractors, office workers, marketing and advertising, lawyers, engineers and more.

This should be resolved immediately, any worker who wants to come to Israel to work in the construction industry, should be allowed to come, and then the matter should be settled.

Even so, there was no order before this.

Secondly, the Governor of the Bank of Israel must lower the interest rate by 26.2 by at least 1%.

It is clear beyond any doubt that high interest rates harm the state's revenues, the profits of all the companies in the economy, their cash flows, and every citizen in the State of Israel.

All citizens of the State of Israel are consumers of loans, and therefore they pay much more today than they should.

And the interest rate reduction will bring some optimism to the economy.

The governor of the Bank of Israel has been acting for about a year now not as the governor of the State of Israel, but as the governor of the banks, who are the only ones who profit from the increase in interest rates.

After we have solved the problem of interest and bringing in workers, once and for all we need to remove the bureaucratic barriers in all the construction committees of all kinds, and release building permits to everyone who wants to start building in these crazy days.

Every construction project pays crazy interest rates for many years, and especially tenants in price/discount auctions, who wait many years for their apartments.

The next leaders of the State of Israel

The State of Israel should tomorrow morning cancel the grants and stop the unnecessary and onerous expenses (with the exception of the northern settlements). It does not make sense to give grants to strong companies, which overall have a little less income during this period. The state is not the body that can afford to finance high expenses These, without saying too many words, are a lot of distortions that exist in the economy today.

The most important thing is to produce new leadership, young leadership. When the young President Kennedy was elected to be the President of the United States in his inauguration speech, one of the most memorable sentences from the speech was "Ask not what the country can do for you , ask what you can do for your country", and therefore I believe that the same generals who are currently in Gaza, are the ones who should be the next leaders of the State of Israel.

Shalom Shetrit, from the owner of the drinking company/Shalom Sam Yitzhakov

From day one, I agree with the statement that everyone who has ruled this country and has been in leadership positions and in politics for the past twenty years, should leave.

We need a new generation of leaders to run the country.

The ministers should be professional, the government expenses should be reasonable and the city should start a new and clean page with leaders who see the future and think about the citizens.

In conclusion, the state needs a new agenda, an agenda whose decisions are guided by the Zionist code.

We need to generate new hope for the people of Israel and the State of Israel.

The war today teaches us that there is a young and quality generation that is now fighting the war and we need to build the new Land of Israel for them, literal construction, because none of them deserve it.
