The Israeli army hit three Hezbollah targets in the Baalbek area, about 100 kilometers northeast of Beirut, in the Beeka Valley.
The military spokesperson made this known, quoted by the media, referring to the raids carried out by the air force across the border.
According to initial local information, the air raid was carried out with two missiles fired at a warehouse containing food in the town of Adus, a few kilometers west of the capital Baalbeck.
According to some local sources, some people were injured and transported to hospital.
The first images released on social media of the affected area show an expanse of rubble and the blackened and overturned carcass of a van.
The attack was launched in response to a Hezbollah rocket fire that hit an Israeli soldiers' cantonment in a settlement in the Upper Galilee.
According to Beirut media, the rockets fell in the town of Shtula, located opposite the Lebanese town of Aita Shaab.
The same Lebanese media say that alarm sirens have sounded throughout the western Upper Galilee, in the communities of Shtula, Even Menahem, Arab Aramshe, Zar'it, Gorern.

Previously, Israeli military radio reported that a surface-to-air missile fired from Lebanon was intercepted by the 'David's Sling' air defense system in the Galilee in the Mount Tabor area, over 60 kilometers from the border with Lebanon.
The missile, adds the same source, tried to shoot down, without success, an Israeli 'Zik' type drone (Hermes 450).
''That drone did not suffer any damage and continued its mission'' the broadcaster specified.
A few hours earlier, Hezbollah had announced from Beirut that it had shot down an Israeli Hermes 450 drone, from the
Israeli company Elbit, in the south of the country, hit by a missile from the Lebanese armed movement.
