Fear of a cholera outbreak on a cruise: 2,000 passengers quarantined at sea - voila! tourism

A Norwegian Cruise Line ship with more than 2,000 passengers on board was forced to enter a maritime quarantine off the coast of Mauritius due to fears of an outbreak of a cholera epidemic.



The ship, which goes by the name "The Norwegian Dawn" (the "Norwegian Dawn"), was turned away from a berth in Port Louis, the capital of Mauritius, on Sunday this week because of "potential health risks" after 15 passengers were placed in isolation, the authority said. The ports of Mauritius.

However, the Director of the Ministry of Health of Mauritius, Dr Bhushon Uri, revealed on Monday that the test results have since determined that there is no evidence of cholera on board - and the sick passengers are suffering from stomach inflammation. He added that the passengers have "completely recovered".



The ship later received the All approvals to dock at the port by the authorities in Mauritius. The ship - carrying 2,184 passengers and 1,026 crew - set off on a 12-night voyage from Cape Town, South Africa en route to Port Louis on February 13.
