The Hungarian Parliament has elected a new President of the Republic to replace Katalin Novak, who resigned two weeks ago due to a scandal arising from the granting of a pardon to a man convicted of pedophilia.
As announced last week, Tamas Sulyok, 67 years old, president of the Constitutional Court since 2016, was chosen. The jurist was immediately sworn in and will take office on March 5th.
