"Maximum trust of the entire government towards the police forces".
This was expressed by the Minister of the Interior Matteo Piantedosi during the meeting at the Interior Ministry with the union leaders after the police attacks on the student march in Pisa, underlining that the men and women in uniform are "servants of the State and workers who play a fundamental role to safeguard safety and legality".
The head of the Interior Ministry reiterated that there had been "no change of strategy in a more restrictive sense" on the part of the police forces in the management of the squares, he recalled that in recent years "similar events have occurred, with even more serious incidents" and he underlined that "isolated cases" have occurred in Pisa for which a "serious and rigorous" evaluation is underway.
As for the warning from the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella - the truncheons on the boys are a failure and not a gesture of authority - Piantedosi said he "fully agrees" with the words of the head of state.
"And I also agree - he concluded, referring to the words of solidarity addressed by the president to Prime Minister Meloni - with the other previous call against the intolerable series of demonstrations of violence: insults, vulgarity of language, interventions devoid of content but full of verbal aggression, even burned effigies or vilified".
