As revealed by Le Parisien - Today in France, this professor of schools of 26 years old, stationed in Drancy (Seine-Saint-Denis), was indicted and placed in pre-trial detention for terrorist conspiracy with a view to preparing one or more crimes of personal injury.
Justice accuses him of having performed Muslim religious songs glorifying, in French, the fighters of the Islamic State.
For his part, the teacher would have argued to investigators that he was a vector of the precepts of secularism in his school.
However, to date, there is, strictly speaking, no secularism referent in primary schools in France.
“In general, it is the teachers who take up these questions on secularism and who decide to give a lesson to the students,” explains this director of an elementary school.
To do this, they can use documents provided by National Education or use a specialized association.
An educational advisor from the rectorate can also intervene alongside the teacher to set up a game on secularism, this has already been seen.
But it is always at the discretion of the school teacher.
