You need these ingredients for the Rösti casserole:
20g butter
100 g onions, diced
150 g bacon cubes
200g crème fraîche
2 tbsp mustard
1 tsp salt
0.5 tsp pepper
200 g grated cheese
1 kg potatoes, grated
On top:
100 g grated cheese
Herb quark
Chives, chopped
Preparing the casserole is quickly explained:
Preheat the oven to 200 °C top/bottom heat.
Melt butter in a pan.
Then fry the onions and bacon cubes in it for two minutes.
Put aside.
In a small bowl, stir together the crème fraîche, mustard, salt, pepper and grated cheese.
Mix the grated potatoes in a large bowl with the cheese-mustard cream, bacon and onions.
Spread the hash brown mixture evenly in a baking dish.
Spread grated cheese on top.
Bake the rösti casserole in the preheated oven for about 50 minutes.
Serve on plates and garnish with herb quark and chives to taste.
