The Civil Protection has issued a red alert for hydraulic and hydrogeological risk for sectors of Veneto tomorrow, and an orange alert for parts of Emilia-Romagna and Veneto.
Also rated yellow alert in Friuli Venezia Giulia, Veneto, Trentino Alto Adige, Lombardy, Piedmont, Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany, Abruzzo, Umbria, Lazio, Campania, Molise, Calabria, Basilicata, Sicily and Sardinia.
Scattered to widespread rainfall is also expected, including showers or thunderstorms, in Sicily and Calabria, with no extension in the afternoon in Campania and Sardinia.
The phenomena will be accompanied by heavy showers, frequent electrical activity, possible hailstorms and strong gusts.
Strong to gale-force south-eastern winds are also expected in Sicily and Calabria, extending to Basilicata and Puglia, with possible storm surges along the exposed coasts.
The cyclonic area present in the Mediterranean will tend to move between the two largest islands, triggering a flow of south-eastern currents which will affect a large part of the southern regions and Sardinia, resulting in scattered to widespread rainfall, including thunderstorms, and the intensification of ventilation.
