For many pensioners there is less money in the account, but in the public sector there is more money: these things all change in March.
Munich – Some people are facing income changes next month.
While pensioners are confronted with rising health insurance contributions, public sector employees can look forward to higher salaries.
Changes to additional contributions come into force for pensioners in March
What previously only affected other contributors since January 1st now also applies to pensioners: the additional contributions from statutory health insurance companies will be increased.
An increase in the average contribution by 0.1 percent to 1.7 percent was decided last fall.
Some health insurance companies still keep their prices stable or even lower them, while others even increase their rates by up to 0.8 percent.
However, other things will change for retirees in March.

The possible increase in costs is directly related to the new additional contributions from the respective health insurance companies, so pensioners should find out about possible changes from their insurer.
The German pension insurance only provides written information about this in exceptional cases, according to a statement.
More salaries for public sector employees in March
However, there is more money for public sector employees.
Last year's collective bargaining has borne fruit that can now be harvested.
After the inflation adjustment last year, salaries are now also being increased.
“In a first step, all table fees will be increased by a (base) amount of 200 euros,” says a statement from the Federal Ministry of the Interior.
This means: a flat rate of 200 euros more money at every salary level.
In a second step, the amount will be increased by 5.5 percent, but at least by 340 euros.
The assignment to a specific pay group in the public sector depends on various factors, such as professional experience and qualifications.
Trainees, students and interns also benefit from the increase.
According to the ministry, her salary will increase by 150 euros.
