The Court of Cassation today rejected the appeal against the acquittal sentence of StefanMeran Alejandro Augusto, the Dominican citizen who on 4 October 2019, having turned himself in for the theft of a moped, was brought to the police station in Trieste and killed officers Matteo Demenego and Pierluigi Rotta.
The Court accepted the opinion of the Deputy Prosecutor General of the Cassation Antonietta Picardi who ruled that the appeal was inadmissible.
Meran had been recognized as incapable of understanding and wanting to remain in a Rems for thirty years.
