There are mistakes that drivers make all the time without knowing.

One of them concerns the acceleration lane on motorways.

Pforzheim - It's not uncommon to encounter drivers in traffic who are more likely to sneak along than drive.

Some people might think they won their driver's license in the lottery.

To refresh your memory a bit, the Pforzheim police explain the “catwalk on the highway”.

“Mysterious phenomenon” for drivers: Police provide information about common errors

A common mistake is that some drivers don't actually use the acceleration lane to accelerate.

The police also see this as a problem because they have created a special Facebook post on the topic.

The police officers wrote about it: “There is a mysterious phenomenon out there - the acceleration lane!

And we are here to demystify it.” This is a sarcastic four-step guide:

  • Start your engine like you're on your way to Formula 1!

  • Don't look back - your past is on the ramp, but the future is on the highway!

(Edit: Of course, looking over your shoulder is absolutely necessary.)

  • Signal your intention, because communication is key - it's completely normal for the turn signal to keep going on and off.

  • Hold on – Use the entire length of the acceleration lane.

  • The instructions are intended to help you “rock” the acceleration lane – aka “freeway catwalk”.

The reactions to the police's Facebook post have been overwhelmingly positive.

In the comments section, Facebook users agreed that the “mysterious phenomenon” was well summarized.

When asked by a user whether the “secret of the middle lane” would also be demystified, the Pforzheim police replied: We will definitely include it in our planning.

There are obviously a few themes.”

Police educate drivers: “Acceleration lanes are like the first date”

At the end of the post, the police point out that the acceleration lane is like a first date: “Impressed, but don’t overdo it!” And so that everyone understands: “Please make full use of the acceleration lane and don’t drive into it after just a few meters Flowing traffic.” In this way, accidents could be avoided.

But how fast can you drive on an acceleration lane?

There are different opinions on this: While some claim that you have to stick to the speed limits, others believe that you can drive as fast as you can.

The road traffic regulations explain the requirement.
