"The data available on the vote in Sardinia gives a victory by less than 3 thousand votes to the centre-left candidate Alessandra Todde over the centre-right candidate Paolo Truzzu".

Thus in a joint note

Giorgia Meloni, Antonio Tajani and Matteo Salvini

.

Even if the coalition has not suffered any decline, it is "a defeat on which we will think together to evaluate the possible mistakes made. We will continue to work, learning from our defeats as well as our victories".

"We regret the fact that the excellent result of the centre-right coalition lists, which reached almost 50% of the votes, did not also translate into a victory for the presidential candidate", continues the note.

"Therefore - they underline - there would not be a decline in consensus for the centre-right in Sardinia".

Schlein: 'There is an alternative, the direction is right'

"One thing is certain: the alternative is there.

As secretary, exactly one year before the primaries - so the secretary of the Democratic Party Elly Schlein on Facebook -, I couldn't hope for a better reason to celebrate! It shows that the direction taken it is the right one and that being stubbornly united bears fruit. We will also be so in view of other equally important challenges, because today we have shown that the right can be beaten".

"They were sure of winning, they came here to Cagliari with great fanfare, with prime minister and vice prime minister, and Sardinia responded. They lost Truzzu, they lost Giorgia Meloni who imposed it by force, and they also lost Matteo Salvini" .

"The wind is changing! Alessandra Todde will be the first President of Sardinia - the post begins -. It is the redemption of a proud community that has experienced first-hand the inadequacy of the right for five years. It is a victory for Alessandra that has proven itself the right person, she ran an extraordinary campaign and will be a great President. She will be able to restore trust to the Sardinians and hope to this wonderful land. It is a team victory, because Alessandra held together a plural coalition that became more united every day. I thank the entire Sardinian Democratic Party, first of all the candidates, because we are the first party on the island, and for this we thank those who voted for us and we feel a great responsibility".

Salvini: 'The Government is absolutely firm'

"After five consecutive victories there can be a defeat - said the leader of the League, Matteo Salvini, commenting on the vote in Sardinia -. When the people vote they are always right. It does not change my commitment as minister to the Sardinians. I will continue, obviously , to do everything that the Sardinians expect and deserve. When we win we all win together, when we lose we all lose together. The numbers show that the centre-right has increased the votes compared to the policies, that the League and the Sardinian party of action increased by three points, but the M5s candidate won. In a democracy this is right."

"The Government is absolutely solid - he added -. I am happy with what we are doing, what we are planning. After five consecutive defeats I am pleased to know that Schlein at least slept happy last night".

"The regional elections are important for the citizens - adds Salvini - The Sardinians have decided. Their vote or not vote, because almost half of the Sardinians did not vote, must be respected. I think the vote of the Abruzzo people will be profoundly different".

"When you change a running candidate it's more complicated. It also applies to a mayor. But I will never be the one who, when things go well, it's thanks to me and when things go wrong it's the fault of others", Salvini said again, commenting on the results of the vote in Sardinia.

Conte: 'It's a personal defeat for Meloni'

"This is the new wind of Sardinia", which "blows from Sardinia towards the continent".

This "means that, if we manage to build a serious and credible project, convincing for citizens, we can win and be competitive" without "electoral signs", said the leader of the M5s Giuseppe Conte to L'Aria che Tira.

For Conte this "is a personal defeat for Meloni".

"Giorgia Meloni put her face on it here, Cagliari and Sardinia are still full of blow-ups of proud and strong Meloni", he explained.

Paolo Truzzu, with his declaration that he takes full responsibility for the defeat, "was very generous towards the president Giorgia Meloni because it was she who chose him. In reality Giorgia Meloni filled the electoral campaign with blow-ups with her face: I don't know if he has declared something but he hasn't put his face on it yet, maybe it's time to put it out there personally because I think he handled this affair a bit with arrogance."

Lollobrigida: 'Lost by 1500 votes, the coalition did well'

"We lost the Sardinia Region by 1,500 votes but compared to 16 months ago the centre-right in Sardinia had obtained 40% of the votes and yesterday as a list it obtained 48.8% and the so-called broad camp which had had 48.8% today it gets 42.6% for lists. So the political judgment with respect to the coalitions seems to me to confirm an extremely positive trend", said the Minister of Agriculture, Francesco Lollobrigida.

Tajani: 'The vote in Sardinia has no effect on the stability of the government'

"For Forza Italia the result" of the vote in Sardinia "is substantially positive, taking into account that there are many civic lists from areas close to ours. We didn't win, we will take this into account but this has no effect on the stability of the government, we work very well together, with Giorgia (Meloni) and Matteo (Salvini) there is a perfect understanding - said Antonio Tajani from Zagreb - and even if we are leaders of different parties we work to respect the commitment that we have made together with the voters. Whoever comes to terms with it: this government will move forward and the collaboration between the government forces is more than positive."

Prodi: 'The more the center-left unites, the more it wins'

"The more the centre-left unites, the more it wins, there's nothing we can do about it. It also won by discounting a diaspora, which was less successful than expected, but it was there."

Romano Prodi, father of the Ulivo, comments on the vote in Sardinia and the victory of Alessandra Todde, supported by M5S-Pd and Avs, in an interview with 'La Stampa.it'.

According to the former prime minister, Meloni "suffered a double defeat: he imposed a candidate and that candidate turned out to be wrong. And now he will have to manage the inconvenience of a defeat in which an ally like the League was forced to make several withdraw."
