Indigenous populations from Latin America will gather in Mexico City from 6 to 10 March to promote the region's food tradition in the event organized by Slow Food "Terra Madre Indigena - LosPueblos Abya Yala".
For the occasion, 80 delegates are expected from Mexico, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Guatemala, Ecuador and Nicaragua, who will participate in debates and conferences over the first three days on the cultural richness of indigenous peoples, the defense of their rights and the rediscovery of local traditions to "stop food colonization", reads a statement from the organization.
The last two days will be open to the public, who will be able to participate for free in conferences and tastings on indigenous cuisine and visit the stands of local producers in the former presidential residence Los Pinos.
