"It was a very important and significant meeting which follows the one I had this morning in the plant after checking the state of the systems and what has been done to make it environmentally safe. The associations of the related industries, the unions were present and I had the president at my side of the Region and the mayor of Taranto, demonstrating that we are all united in the eco-system at the level of public administration, at the level of trade union representation and productive representation of the corporate social system".
This was said by the Minister of Business and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, meeting journalists at the end of the meeting on the former Ilva, which he chaired in the prefecture of Taranto, which was attended by representatives of local authorities and local stakeholders, trade unions, business associations and Federmanager .
Near the government building there is a garrison of related workers and another of environmentalist associations.
"I reiterate - added Urso - that the objective is to create insecurity and relaunch the Taranto steelworks site with all the conditions necessary to safeguard health, the protection of the environment and certainly the workers. I believe this climate of cohesion is extraordinary and can help us to help us to win this challenge which is the challenge of the Italian industry because here in Taranto we demonstrate to our country and to the European Union that - concluded the minister - Italy is there, is a convinced supporter of its own industrial system and that we do it in a manner, cohesive, unitary, with all social, trade union and political forces".
