But not everyone can enjoy this bonus.
Who benefits from the special payment?
Berlin – Given the high energy and food prices, an extra 220 euros per month in the account is a significant financial relief for many.
The tax- and duty-free inflation bonus of 3,000 euros that has already been approved will make monthly expenses easier for employees since October 2022.
The catch: Employers decide whether to pay out this bonus.
However, employees in the public sector can look forward to this: employees who fall under the TVöD, TV-V, TV-Wald-Bund will now receive the special payment.
From March 2024 there will be a salary increase with the new TVöD.

220 euros from July 2023 to February 2024: Public sector employees benefit from the bonus
According to ver.di, around 2.5 million federal and local government employees receive the inflation bonus.
Part of it will be paid out in June: a one-off special payment of 1,240 euros.
From July 2023 to February 2024, special monthly payments of 220 euros will be made.
After that, the collective wages should be increased by a base amount of 200 euros and ultimately increased by 5.5 percent, reports ver.di.
After months of wage disputes for the public sector, unions and employers agreed on the inflation compensation bonus in April.

Tax- and duty-free special payment of 3,000 euros
First one-off special payment of 1240 euros in June 2023
Monthly special payments of 220 euros from July 2023 to February 2024
From March 2024, employees' income will increase by a base amount of 200 euros plus 5.5 percent;
at least 340 euros gross more
Students, trainees and interns will receive an inflation compensation allowance of 620 euros in June 2023 + 110 euros per month from July 2023 to February 2024
Training fees will be increased by 15 euros until March 2024

Inflation compensation money: Which professional groups benefit from the special payments?
Employees who fall under the TVöD, TV-V, TV-Wald-Bund can look forward to the bonus payments.
This includes, among others, the following professional groups: educators, bus drivers, swimming pool employees, firefighters, nurses and geriatric nurses, administrative employees, forest rangers, sewage treatment plant employees and doctors.
According to Ver.di, employees who work part-time receive special payments proportional to their working hours.
The term of the agreements should be 24 months.
