It was announced, but the details are now known.
Amazon Prime Video, the American delivery giant's video-on-demand platform, will automatically integrate advertising into its programs in France from April 9.
In an email sent to subscribers, the company explains that films and series will be affected by a “limited quantity” of advertisements.
It makes a promise: to broadcast “fewer advertisements than traditional linear television and other streaming services”.
1.99 euros per month more to escape it
For those who don't want to be exposed to ads, unsubscribing to Prime Video is free.
The other solution is to pay more for your monthly subscription, namely an additional 1.99 euros.
Furthermore, Luxembourg and Belgium, partly French-speaking countries, are not yet affected by this change in practices.
The same is true in the Netherlands.
Whatever option is chosen, some programs will continue to expose viewers to advertising, as is already the case today.
This concerns, for example, live sport, as well as additional channels.
Amazon justifies this arrival of advertising by investment needs.
“This will allow us to continue to invest in attractive content and increase our investments over the long term, in order to maintain the quality and quantity of content on Prime Video.

The arrival of advertising is gradually occurring in several countries where the platform is accessible.
This choice to integrate advertising, unless you pay more, has also been made by other similar services such as Netflix or Disney +.
