An avalanche broke out in the afternoon in Racines di Dentro, Alto Adige, engulfing three people.
The provisional toll is one dead and one seriously injured.
The alarm was raised around 5pm. All three emergency helicopters that operate in Alto Adige, Pelikan 1, Pelikan 2 and Aiut Alpin Dolomites, went to the scene, with various rescue teams.
Three people were recovered from the snow masses: one died, one was transported to the Bolzano hospital in very serious conditions, however there is no information at the moment on the conditions of the third person.
Up to 60 cm of snow has fallen recently.
