The junior Munich book show invites you to the Fat Cat in the old Gasteig.

Many prominent authors will come.

Our tip for the whole family.

These statistics are tough: 25 percent of children in Germany cannot read well enough at the end of primary school.

This doesn't just mean that their further education will be more difficult.

It also means that these girls and boys may never know what happiness lies in literature.

How good it feels to immerse yourself in other worlds, to completely sink into them.

How it feels not to be able to wait for the evening to come and you can finally find your way back to the story of the book you are currently reading.

That you devour with your eyes, heart and brain - and at the same time hope that it will never end.

Books don't just impart knowledge, books are havens where you can find calm in the storm of life.

And that's why the Munich Book Show Junior, which opens on March 1, 2024 at the Fat Cat in the former Gasteig, cannot be announced big enough.

For the 18th time, in addition to a large school class program and the popular exhibition of children's and young adult books, it is once again inviting people to many events with children's book authors.

Good team: Paul Maar and his grandson Hannes will present their book together at the Junior Book Show on March 10, 2024.

Because when Paul Maar himself draws a little Sam in the book, even the biggest little reader will want to see what this story about the red-haired man with the funny dots on his face is actually about.

Are these wish points?

Ha!

That's how it starts, the enthusiasm for the magical world of literature.

On March 10, 2024, Paul Maar will present the book “The Enchantress’s Daughter” at 11 a.m.

Together with his grandson - he lovingly illustrated his grandfather's new work.

Or the day before: Who could read comic books better than comedians?

Because the answer to this question is now really clear, on March 9, 2024 from 4 p.m., joker Michael Mittermeier and his colleagues from the Lucky Punch Comedy Club will present surprise titles from the field of drawn story art.

It will certainly be fun when the writing competition “Isar Authors: The Best Story of All” takes place on March 8, 2024 from 4 p.m.

The patron of this hands-on fun for children aged seven and over (free entry) is the checker Marina, who has been supporting the checker team of Tobi, Julian and Can on children's television since October 2023.

The Junior Book Show once again thrives on the many encounters with the people behind the books.

They also read a lot.

And not always just in German.

The Morgen eV association invites children aged five and over to get a taste of other languages on March 2, 2024 from 11:30 a.m.

The readers tell funny stories from “a box of something” in German and six other languages: Albanian, Arabic, Kurdish, Spanish, Turkish, Ukrainian.

Here too – as with most events – entry is free.

All attempts to inspire enthusiasm for the magic of books.

Another shocking statistic: one in seven adults in Germany is considered functionally illiterate and is restricted or excluded from working life and social participation.

“Educational Disaster Reading” is the title of the Bücherschau junior team's title for the panel discussion, which will take place on March 1, 2024 at 5 p.m. before the ceremonial opening (from 6 p.m.) in the Fat Cat.

Possible solutions will be discussed here.

One thing is already clear: grab your own children or those of friends and relatives and go to the junior book show - it once again offers a truly exquisite program.

Until March 10, 2024 at Fat Cat in Gasteig.
