The incidence rate went from 777.6 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants in 2023 to 453.3 in 2024. In the first 2 months of the year, 195 people have already died, a higher number than the 149 deaths in the whole of 2023. In an attempt to raise awareness among the population towards prevention, the mystery of Health has organized "D-Day" on March 2nd in the fight against dengue.


   On this occasion, a communication campaign will be launched with the diffusion of the video "10 minutes against dengue" in which advice is provided on how to contain the epidemic by avoiding the proliferation of the Aedes Egypti mosquito, which transmits the arbovirus that causes the disease.

"I invite all of society to a large national mobilization this Saturday, March 2.


   We reserve our 10 minutes against dengue to prevent contagions by eliminating the conditions for the reproduction of mosquitoes," said the Minister of Health, Nísia Trindade, in a press conference in Brasilia.


    The government has already allocated 1.5 billion reais (283 million euros) to states and municipalities to support the costs of local authorities in the fight against the epidemic.

An ordinance from the Ministry of Health also announced the launch of a plan to facilitate the allocation of resources to the seven states - Acre, Goias, Minas Gerais, Espirito Santo, Rio de Janeiro and Santa Catarina - which have decreed a state of emergency.
