A learner driver has no idea why the practical test is so much more expensive than a normal driving lesson.

Munich – Pass the driving test, hold your driving license in your hand: the feeling of independence is then much greater.
But the price for this is one thing above all: high.
In many cases the cost of the certificate is between 3,000 and 4,000 euros.
“I feel really ripped off, to put it harmlessly,” wrote a driving student on the Reddit platform.
He paid a high surcharge for the test compared to a normal driving lesson.

In it he was upset that the driving school charged 210 euros for it.
Only 62 euros were charged for one hour of driving (45 minutes).
He calculated the resulting difference of 148 euros to the driving test.
“Did I now pay 210 euros for my driving instructor to chat with the examiner for 45 minutes while I drove her around - or are there costs incurred elsewhere for the driving costs that justify the surcharge of 148 euros?” he asked Reddit community.

The costs listed by the student driver on Reddit are quite realistic, as can be seen from a list from the ADAC.
This expects “160 to 289 euros”, as the official website shows.
Overall, the price for the driving license cannot be calculated across the board.
The pace of learning and the number of driving lessons are too different for that.
However, there is a minimum number of hours that are mandatory for every learner driver.
