Men's cream is a real classic of German cuisine.
Prepared according to grandma's recipe, the dessert is wonderfully creamy and chocolaty with a splash.
The men's cream, which actually comes from Münsterland, has long since left the borders of North Rhine-Westphalia behind and has convinced the whole of Germany.

It is not clear how the men's cream, also known as men's food, got its name.
Many are convinced that the rum known as “gentlemen’s liqueur” is responsible for the name.
In combination with dark chocolate, which also makes the perfect chocolate mousse, the rum ensures that the cream is a little bitter and not too sweet.
That's why, according to another origin story, the dessert was often only served to men, who then of course enjoyed their men's cream.
Fortunately, these days everyone can enjoy the dessert that grandma made.

For the men's cream according to grandma's recipe you need the following ingredients:
1 packet of vanilla or cream pudding powder
500 ml milk
4 tbsp sugar
200 g cream
100 g dark chocolate shavings
50 ml rum
1 handful of raspberries

This is how the classic men's cream is made Grandma's way:
Mix the pudding powder with 4 tablespoons of milk and sugar until smooth.
Bring the remaining milk to the boil in a pot.
Add the pudding powder while stirring and bring the pudding to the boil briefly.
Pour the pudding into a bowl and cover the surface with some cling film to prevent a skin from forming.
Let cool for about 2 hours until the pudding is room temperature.
In the meantime, beat the cream with the mixer until stiff.
Gradually fold the cream and 75 g of chocolate shavings into the cooled pudding.
Also mix rum into the dessert and pour men's cream into glasses.
Garnish with remaining chocolate and raspberries and refrigerate until serving.
